Voyages in the national sail training ship Young Endeavour are offered to young Australians at a lower cost thanks to support from the Australian Government, the Royal Australian Navy and our scholarship providers.
The standard 11-day youth development voyage on STS Young Endeavour is $1,950.00 (inclusive of GST). This covers all meals and accommodation aboard the ship. Participants also receive a kit bag containing a Young Endeavour crew shirt, hat, sailing gloves, water bottle and voyage handbook. Travel, travel insurance and transfers to and from the ship are not included.
Successful applicants will be asked to pay a 20% deposit when they accept a voyage offer to secure their berth.
As per the Terms and Conditions, a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be retained in the event that a candidate withdraws from the voyage.
If you have any questions please contact 1800 020 444 or email us for more information.
A limited number of financially assisted berths are offered to applicants each year. To be eligible for Financial Assistance, you must be receiving a qualifying Centrelink benefit. If you are under 18 and living at home with a parent who receives a qualifying Centrelink benefit such as a Supporting Parent Benefit or Disability Support, you may also be eligible.
Applicants offered a financially assisted berth will be asked to submit supporting information, such as an Income Statement from Centrelink, as proof of your financial circumstances.
If you are offered and accept a financially assisted berth, you will be invoiced for a minimum of $650 for the voyage. Transfers are not included, so you must also meet any travel costs to and from the ship.
Please note you can not request financial assistance after you have been offered a berth. You will be asked to indicate whether you are applying for a regular berth or a financially assisted berth during the application process. If you apply for financial assistance you will not be considered for a regular berth.
For further information regarding financial assistance please contact the office on 1800 020 444 or email us.
The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme partners with many businesses and community organisations who offer scholarships for students, staff and young people in the community to join a voyage in Young Endeavour. Scholarship berths enable a diverse range of young Australians from across the country to participate in the Young Endeavour Youth Development Program. Our Scholarship partners bypass the ballot and can place a candidate of their choice on the voyage of their choice, provided they meet eligibility criteria.
Businesses, Not for profit and community organisations such as schools, councils, Rotary Clubs, PCYCs, Legacy, RSL Sub-Branches, sporting clubs, cultural associations and youth agencies can sponsor young people to sail in Young Endeavour through our Community Scholarship program.
