Hi Everyone, Welcome to Day 7 of our voyage. It was a perfect Shark Bay morning that greeted the Young Endeavour crew when they mustered on deck at 0630 for an early morning activity that consisted of an entertaining game of ‘Knights, Mounts and Cavaliers’. Given the warm conditions we decided to start the days activities with an early morning swim and BBQ breakfast served on deck which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Morning brief and cleaning stations followed then the Boats Officer gave a practical presentation on Rules of the Road followed by lunch. At 1200 the Youth Crew were ferried ashore to Denham for mid voyage chats and to witness the 400 Year Dirk Hartog Commemoration Parade. Once completed they were ferried back to the ship and preparations made to get underway. At 1450 we weighed anchor then once underway did a close sail past of STS Leeuwin where we fired a cannon salute and gave a rousing three cheers which was reciprocated by the Leeuwin Crew. With farewells of both ships complete we shaped a course to the North West set fore and aft sails and in favourable westerly conditions commenced our passage out of Shark Bay via the Naturaliste Channel. Later this evening we will transit through the Naturaliste Channel, round Cape Inscription and then shape a new course to the south east and start making best speed to our next anchorage which at this time will be the Abrolhos Islands. The good news is that the weather conditions are favourable for our passage south so hopefully the forecasters have got it right! Until tomorrow, take care. Yours Aye Captain Gav
