Today was another quiet day. After the normal 0900 morning brief and a celebrity Happy Hour of Deck Day, it was time for a Met lecture and lunch. This afternoon has been sail theory part 2 - encompassing a rehash of yesterday's sail theory about ballance and todays lecture about the how's and why's of tacking a tall ship.
It is now raining and putting a dampener on the afternoon but not the Youth Crew's spirits!
Below are comments from some of the Youth Crew:
Well, where to start. The Young Endeavour has been fantastic so far, its day eight, and so far it has been full of great adventures, happy sailing and lots of good times with some great people.
The voyage has been alot different to what i thought it would be like. It has been ten times better. The most unbelievable thing has been the crew aboard. Nine days ago I had not met one person sailing on the young endeavour, however it feels like I have known them all for years! Im sure there is going to be many more laughs, jokes, games and no doubt many tears when we have to say goodbye! Although im certain the mates I have made on here, will be mates for many years to come.
So get on board, even if you think its not for you, it is!!!
At the start I didnt know what to expect, I didnt know any of the people that I would spend the next 16 days with from a bar of soap, but that has all changed now. I now believe that I have made life long friends with almost all of the crew. Over the last 8 days I have done things I didn't think I'd ever be able to do, like climbing to the top of the mast, especially by choice.
For anyone that is thinking of becoming one of the Young Endeavours crew, I would strongly reccomend that you do, even if you are unsure, you wont regret it because I no I never will.
Neck up and give it a go
