Current situation at 1800: At anchor off Bridport, Tasmania. Wind sou'westerly at 15 knots, Temp 20C.
It has been a long couple of days but we're here. The gale kept on coming at us even as we approached our anchorage for tonight. Beforehand, several YC were hoping for some rough Bass Strait weather - be careful what you ask for because you might just get it.

Nobody got much sleep last night as the ship had a roller coaster ride pounding and lurching in seas constantly whipped by 50 knot plus winds.

Now we are here and it's a good chance to take a breath. The YC were put through their paces this afternoon with setting and furling drills to ensure they can do it tomorrow, because Wednesday is their Command Day - 24 hours in which they will be given the ship to sail more than 100 km to Devonport. Soon they will hold elections to see who does what and this evening they will prepare for their big challenge.

Youth crew entry by Eva Gull, 23 from Rutherglen, Victoria.
I have had a great time here on the Young Endeavour it has been tough at times trying to get over my sea sickness and missing my family. I have learnt so much more about my self and what I can achieve. Tomorrow the big day will come when we the 24 youth crew take over the ship which will give us all a chance to put what we have learnt into practice, hope it all works out. Love to all my family E.

Hi Mum and Dad, from Heath.

Hi I'm Bec Preston, 18, from Canberra.
It has been hard for everyone but we are all coming together and working as one team. The biggest challenge for me was to keep on going not to give up and I'm achieving it. I went up aloft and had to tie up the sail. That was hard and it took awhile 2 and a half hours but I got through. Mum and Dad you would be proud. Kat Tiger Anne-Maire and Micheal I'm so happy. Jen there are so many animals I've seen dolphin's and seals and everything you'll get your chance to make your mark. Love always Bec P.
PS the Boss is a legend

Stay tuned
