Voyages in the national sail training ship Young Endeavour are offered to young Australians at a lower cost thanks to support from the Australian Government, the Royal Australian Navy and our Corporate Supporters.
The standard voyage fee for an eleven day Young Endeavour Youth Development Voyage is $1,950.00 (inclusive of GST). Voyages longer than the standard eleven days may incur a larger fee.
All meals and accommodation on board STS Young Endeavour is included in the voyage fee. Participants will also receive a Young Endeavour crew shirt, hat, sailing gloves and kit bags, as well as a voyage handbook. Travel and transfers to and from the ship are not included.
There is no fee to apply for the ballot. Successful applicants will be asked to pay a deposit on acceptance of an offer to sail, in order to secure their berth. All voyage fees are payable by the due date on the invoice issued to successful applicants.
As per the Terms and Conditions, a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be retained in the event that a candidate withdraws from the voyage.
If you have any questions please contact 1800 020 444 or email us for more information.
A limited number of financially assisted berths are offered to applicants each year. To be eligible for Financial Assistance, you must be receiving a Centrelink benefit such as Newstart Allowance. If you are under 18 and living at home with a parent who receives a Centrelink benefit such as a Supporting Parent Benefit or Disability Support you may also be eligible.
Applicants offered a financially assisted berth will be asked to submit supporting information, such as an Income Statement from Centrelink, as proof of your financial circumstances.
If you are offered and accept a financially assisted berth, you will be invoiced for a minimum of $650 for the voyage. Transfers are not included, so you must also meet any travel costs to and from the ship.
Please note you can not request financial assistance after you have been offered a berth. You will be asked to indicate whether you are applying for a regular berth or a financially assisted berth during the application process. If you apply for financial assistance you will not be considered for a regular berth.
For further information regarding financial assistance please contact the office on 1800 020 444 or email us.
The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme partners with many corporate and community organisations who offer scholarships for students, staff and young people in the community to join a voyage in Young Endeavour. Scholarship berths enable a diverse range of young Australians from across the country to participate in the Young Endeavour Youth Development Program. Our Scholarship partners bypass the ballot and can place a candidate of their choice on the voyage of their choice, provided they meet eligibility criteria.
Not for profit and community organisations such as schools, councils, Rotary Clubs, PCYCs, Legacy, RSL Sub-Branches, sporting clubs, cultural associations and youth agencies can sponsor young people to sail in Young Endeavour through our Community Scholarship program. Corporate Supporters can sponsor employees or young people in the community through the Young Endeavour Corporate Leadership Development Program.
