Young Leaders Voyages

Young Leaders voyages are intensive five day training programs in Young Endeavour, designed to develop outstanding teamwork and leadership skills for up to 27 participants. The program is delivered by staff from the Royal Australian Navy and can be tailored to suit individual organisations and teams.

The Young Leaders Program offers a shorter voyage to specific groups of young Australians ages 18-25. The program was piloted with cadets from the Australian Defence Force Academy, and was assessed as the best practical leadership development training undertaken by those cadets over a three year period. The Scheme is now focused on expanding this Young Leaders Program within the corporate sector.

The Young Leaders Program aims to provide a unique and real experiential learning environment. This creates an opportunity for participants to develop and implement skills deemed valuable to the corporate sector in an environment where they are given real responsibility with real consequences. The focus of this program is a little bit of TLCC:

i) Teamwork
ii) Leadership
iii) Communication
iv) Confidence

Other areas of development also include:

i) Ambition
ii) Commitment
iii) Tolerance and Patience
iv) Flexibility
v) Trust

This program, unique to Young Endeavour and the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme, allows future leaders a change to experience some of the challenges that they will face during their career. They are able to see the immediate effects of different leadership styles, an the importance of teamwork and communication and in doing so gain a confidence which cannot be found in any other environment

Opportunities to undertake these voyages are limited. Further information can be obtained from the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme at 1800 020 444 or via email.
