Mr Achim Drescher : Chairman, YEYS Board

Achim Drescher is a Former Managing Director and Chairman of Columbus Line Australia. Presently Achim is a Non-executive Director of Adsteam Marine Ltd, Leighton Holdings Ltd, Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd, Sword Securitisation Ltd and Vice President of the Australian German Association Inc. In 1997 Mr Drescher was awarded the 'Cross of the Order of Merit' by the Federal Republic of Germany. He is a graduate of the University of Hamburg, Germany.

Mr Stephen Moss CSC : Executive Director

Stephen Moss was appointed as the Executive Director of the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme in 2004. Previously, he enjoyed a variety of seamanship postings during his career in the Royal Australian Navy that included naval harbour pilotage, marine accident investigation and moorings and salvage. Following his final sea-going appointment as Executive Officer and later, Commanding Officer of the amphibious transport ship, HMAS Kanimbla, he joined the staff of the Australian Navy Amphibious & Afloat Support Group where he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for his contribution to the ADF\\\'s Amphibious and Afloat Support capabilities in 2002. Stephen is actively involved with sail training and is the Vice-President and International Representative of the Australian Sail Training Association. He is a graduate of the RAN Staff College, holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Graduate Diploma of Environmental Law.

Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore AM, CSC, RAN : YEYS Board Member Representing Navy

Steve Gilmore is the current Commander of the Australian Fleet. He is responsible to the Chief of Navy for the preparation and provision of Navy capabilities for operations. In his career that included seagoing postings as a gunnery specialist, he assumed command of the ANZAC class frigate HMAS ARUNTA (FFH151) in 2000. Promoted from Commander to Captain in 2001 he was appointed as the Director of Maritime Combat Development. Steve Gilmore was promoted to Commodore in 2005 and commanded coalition Task Force 58 in the Northern Persian Gulf, and later became the Commander of Navy Systems Command in September 2007. He was promoted to Rear Admiral in June 2008 and assumed the position of Commander Australian Fleet on 08 October 2009.

Mr Marcus C Blackmore AM (D Univ) : YEYS Board Member

Marcus Blackmore was born in Queensland in 1945, educated at the Church of England Grammar School in Brisbane, and later gained a Naturopathic Diploma from the NSW College of Naturopathic Sciences. He served from 1969-1971 as an Officer in the Australian Army with service in Vietnam. Marcus is currently the Executive Chairman of Blackmores Ltd, a public company employing over 400 people in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. The company markets the premium brand of vitamin and herbal products under the ‘Blackmores’ label and is widely recognised for its ethical practices and its treatment of staff. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Heart Research Institute, Director of the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme, Member of Maritime Ministerial Advisory Committee, Honorary Trustee of CEDA and Chairman of the Southern Cross University Foundation. He was awarded an AM in 1998 for service to business, industry and the community and was made an Honorary Doctor of Southern Cross University in 2006 for distinguished leadership in the complementary medicines industry in Australia. He is also the recipient of several other community awards. His interests include Farr 40 international sailing and he holds a helicopter pilot’s licence.

Ms Suzanne Daniel : YEYS Board Member

Suzanne Daniel is a Communication Consultant having worked as a journalist for the United Nations, ABC TV, the Sydney Morning Herald and the BBC London. She was awarded a Vincent Fairfax Fellowship in 2000 through the St James Ethics Centre, is a member of The Institute of Company Directors and now sits on the board of Hunter Hall International Limited. She counts sailing the roaring forties off the West Coast of Tasmania on board 'Defiance' in a voyage aimed at retracing the steps of Joshua Slocum as good preparation for parenting. She has three young children.

Mr John Dixon : YEYS Board Member

Chief Operating Officer/Executive Director Skilled Group. Formerly Executive Director Patrick Corporation. Executive Director Fox Group Holdings, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Member, Council of Logistics Management North America. Over a decade of involvement with community-based awareness programs ranging from hospitals to youth assistance. A keen competitive yachtsman and restorer of wooden boats. Resides in Melbourne

Mr John Calvert-Jones AM : YEYS Board Member

John Calvert-Jones is Chairman of Seafirst Australia Pty Limited, a family investment company. He was educated at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and served with the British Army in Malaysia, West Germany and the United Kingdom. John was Chairman and Managing Director of Prudential-Bache Securities (Australia) and was a member of the Australian Stock Exchange for 23 years. John has served on several public and private company Boards and has had a long-term involvement with the philanthropic sector.

Mr Ron Fisher : YEYS Board Member

Ronald D. Fisher was the former Managing Director of Raytheon Australia and Vice-President of Raytheon International Inc. Previously he was the President Raytheon Canada, President International Operations for South Asia, Senior and General Manager of Raytheon\'s Australian Engineering and Construction business. Prior to joining Raytheon, Ron was General Manager of Rockwell\'s Australian Base Operations

Mr Marshall Baillieu : YEYS Board Member

Marshall is Managing Director and Head of Resources in Investment Banking at Rothschild Australia Limited. Marshall joined Rothschild in 1995 initially based in Washington DC and then moving to Sydney in 2004. Marshall has extensive experience advising companies in the mining and oil and gas sectors, covering public market transactions, mergers and acquisitions, project financings, restructurings, capital raisings, securitizations and privatizations. Marshall holds a Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne University (1994) and Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (1988). Marshall also attended the World Bank sponsored Executive Development Program at Harvard University in 1999. Interests include boating, in which he has extensive yacht racing experience and restoration of wooden boats.
