Voyage 04-20 Underway

Day 1
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Young Endeavour’s fourth voyage for 2020. I am back for the next two voyages giving Captain Kenny a well earned break. This voyage will see us sail from Adelaide to Melbourne which is approximately 550nm. Along the way we will get to sail along some spectacular coastline and anchor in some interesting places. We have put together another great Staff Crew for this voyage who I know will take great care of our new Youth Crew ensuring that they all have an amazing experience.

The Young Endeavour Staff Crew for this voyage are as follows:

Captain – Gav
Sail Master – Darren
Navigator – Ivanka
Watch Officer – Keith
Red Watch Leader – Red
White Watch Leader – Horto
Blue Watch Leader – Bobby
Chef – Keely
Engineer – Reggie
Assistant Watch Leader – Pheobe

The voyage commenced at 1500 today when the new Youth Crew joined Young Endeavour berthed at Port Adelaide’s McLaren Wharf. Once all gear had been stowed, everyone mustered on deck for my welcome address followed by Staff Crew introductions. On completion we farewelled family and friends then got straight into a safety brief, ‘ice breaker’ activities and tours of the ship. Dinner followed then at 1845 we departed our berth and passed safely through the Lt Tom Diver Derrick Bridge then conducted our 90min pilotage to our planned anchorage in Largs Bay. Once safely at anchor I completed my Captain’s Brief and Darren is currently giving his Sail Master Chat. We still have a couple of things to finish off today’s activities but following a great start to the voyage we look to be well on schedule to have everyone in bed by 2200.

Tomorrow morning it is our intention to conduct first climbs of the foremast then at around 1200 depart our anchorage and commence our passage to Melbourne.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours aye,

Captain Gav
