PAST 24 HOURSMOTOR SAILED OUT OF SYDNEY HARBOUR IN PERFECT WEATHER WITH LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS. ON DECK, WATCHES SET AND FURLED ALL STAYSAILS INCLUDING THE MAIN AND ALL SQUARES. UNBELIEVABLE CONDITIONS OFF THE HEADS WITH NO SWELL AND THE SEA LIKE A PERFECT MIRROR. ALL WATCHES FINALLY CLOSED UP TO TAKING STATIONS MID AFTERNOON TO PROVE THE WATCHBILL. OVERNIGHT YOUNG ENDEAVOUR MOTOR SAILED NORTH WITH WATCHES CLOSED UP ENGAGED IN SAIL HANDLING, CLIMBING ALOFT, TRICKS ON THE HELM AND IN PAIRS CONDUCTING ROUNDS. THIS MORNINGS BRIEF PROVIDED ALL WITH THE DAYS ROUTINE, A NEW SALTY SEA TERM AND A PROGRESS REPORT ON THE SHIPS TRACK OVERNIGHT. EVERYONE WAS INTRODUCED TO ROPE RACES A HEALTHY INTERWATCH COMPETETION DESIGNED TO IMPROVE SHIPS KNOWLEDGE AND TEAMWORK. ALL WELLYOUTH CREW IMPRESSIONSLIZ, SYDNEY TOM, DARWIN. BOARDED THE SHIP WITH NO EXPERIENCE AND BY NOW ONLY AFTER JUST 3 DAYS WE CAN SAIL, CLIMB THE MASTS, STEER AND NAVIGATE THE SHIP. Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow.
