4 Hi Everyone,

Welcome to day four of our voyage. As forecast the low pressure system with 40-50kt gale force winds passed over the Victorian Coast and Bass Strait during the early hours of this morning but given our sheltered anchorage here in Portland we were well protected from the worst of this weather but still experienced wind gusts of up to 37kts.

After a good nights rest the Youth Crew awoke to a cold and blustery morning and it took a little prompting to get them out of their warm bunks for an early morning activity at 0630.

A hearty breakfast of pancakes, morning brief and cleaning stations followed then it was straight into another round of rope races before being given an informative presentation on Rules of the Road by Phil our Watch Officer.

This afternoon the Youth Crew were ferried ashore where they conducted mid-voyage chats, played some team games then were given some free time to stretch their legs and browse through the local Portland shops.

This evening with everyone safely back onboard we enjoyed a BBQ dinner which regrettably due to the blustery and cool conditions had to cooked in the galley and eaten in café rather than up on deck.

To complete the evening’s activities we conducted a good round of Three Way Chats (Getting to know each other and public speaking activity) and have now settled into anchor watches for the evening.

Having looked closely at the weather forecast for tomorrow the weather should improve overnight so our current plan is to sail tomorrow morning and continue our passage to Adelaide. It is expected that we will have to battle a large swell for a few hours but the conditions should improve as we get further west.

Until tomorrow, take care

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
