Current situation at 1800: In the middle of Bass Strait. Wind southerly at 10 knots. Temp 18C.
Early this morning we departed Grassy Harbour in thick 'pea soup' fog and set sail to head north. By 1400 hours the fog was as thick as ever - we could just see the bowsprit. Late in the afternoon, near the top of King Island, we met the South Australian brigantine 'One and All' and as we came close fired several cannon shots (blanks) at her. We sailed together for over an hour - she had all her sail up and was just keeping up with us - and we only had one square sail up. But it was great to see another Tall Ship under sail.

We parted ways at dinner time - we will race meet on Australia Day and race down to Geelong. Tonight we continue across Bass Strait in amild southerly. The YC are well and having lots of fun.

No YC entry tonight - we've got volunteers but.......

Stay tuned
