Well, ladies and gents, boys and girls,
Today is the final day of V08/16 and shiver me timbers (ye olde nautical saying), what a ride it’s been. Almost feels like two voyages jammed into one. It’s been one of those voyages that we’ll be talking about for a while and I’m sure the youthies will be talking about forever.
At 0530 we weighed anchor and made our way across Moreton Bay to enter the Brisbane River at 0800. Youth crew did one final happy hour to ensure a clean ship for the oncoming youth crew of V09/16 on Thursday. Then on approaching Bulimba, youth crew manned the yards and we discharged our cannon to indicate our peaceful intentions. At 1000, we berthed port side to HMAS Moreton to complete the voyage safely. Phew!
I had a fantastic voyage and I know the other staff members did too. Thanks to the resilience and adaptability of the youthies, because they are the ones who made it a success. Thanks must also go to the staff who did an amazing job throughout, including some very challenging situations. Well done.
Well that’s it from me, but like I said to the gang today, you may be leaving Young Endeavour but Young Endeavour never leaves you.
Yours Aye,
Captain Adam
