Day Eight – Kangaroo Island

Hi Everyone, Welcome to day eight of our voyage. Overnight in relatively calm conditions we crossed the Investigator Strait then entered Nepean Bay early this morning coming safely to anchor at Kangaroo Islands picturesque Kingscote Harbour at 0715.Following breakfast and a short brief the Youth Crew were ferried ashore in the ships RHIB where they enjoyed their first real taste of civilization since departing Esperance. Whilst ashore most chose to go for a swim at a local beach then found a nice café where they enjoyed some real coffee and a bite to eat which I am sure was not quite as good as Chef Marcus’s food.By 1500 everyone was back onboard and following a short break I gave my Command Day Brief which was followed by a very enjoyable Teak Deck BBQ. Once we had cleaned up from dinner the Youth Crew conducted their Command Day elections which once completed will be followed by the screening of the classic Tall Ship movie ‘Around Cape Horn’.On completion of the movie the Youth Crew will enjoy a good night’s sleep at anchor prior to being given command of Young Endeavour at 1300 tomorrow for a 24hr period which I am sure that they will find both challenging and rewarding.Until tomorrow, take care Yours AyeCaptain Gav
