Hi Everyone,
At Sunrise this morning we were located 8nm to the east of Brampton Island now sailing close hauled on a starboard tack due to an early morning wind shift. As the morning progressed the wind strengthened to 15-20kts from the south west which finally gave the Youth Crew some more challenging sailing conditions. Straight after morning brief we conducted a well executed tack and shaped a new course for Scawfell Island, which would provide us with a good sheltered anchorage in these conditions.

Prior to proceeding to anchor I conducted Captain Setting and Furling Drills which is one of the final activities in the lead up to Command Day.

At 1230 Young Endeavour came safely to anchor at Scawfell Islands Refuge Bay. On anchoring both boats were launched and the Youth Crew were ferried ashore were they were given the opportunity to either swim of the beach, snorkel along a tropical coral reef or just enjoy the chance to explore an uninhabited island. By late afternoon everyone was back onboard and following a very entertaining egg drop' exercise I presented my Command Day brief. This evening we enjoyed a BBQ dinner followed by the Youth Crew Command team elections. On completion of these elections the Youth Crew settled into their anchor watches for the night and everyone is now being given the opportunity to get a nights rest in preparation for the commencement of Command Day.

Tomorrow at 1300 I will hand Command of YOUNG ENDEAVOUR to the Youth Crew of Voyage 15/10 who I am sure will do an amazing job running the ship for the 24 hours that follow.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
