Day 6 – Tasman Sea
Ahoy there everyone, Overnight Young Endeavour remained at anchor in the lee of picturesque Bryans Beach located on the southern tip of the Freycinet Peninsula. During the night the ship remained in sea watches and conducted a teamwork and leadership exercise by completing an unfamiliar team orientated task without instruction in a limited time, needless to say each of the watches acquitted themselves well and explored various methods of communication, leadership and teamwork even when the ship was overcome with a swarm of flying ants.At 0700 the ship weighed anchor and exited Great Oyster Bay, returning to the Tasman Sea via Schouten Passage. Once out of the lee of the peninsula and into open ocean the wind increased to 35 knots from the north with a 2.5 metre swell. This provided an uncomfortable swell which remained for the rest of the day. The Youth Crew remained engaged in sailing the ship but when not on watch retired to their beds; both lunch and dinner were very quiet affairs.A 20 knot southerly change occurred at 2000 and square sails were set as the ship continued along the Tasmanian east coast with the intention of rounding the north east tip via Banks Strait and into Bass Strait tomorrow morning. Until tomorrow evening.Yours ayeCaptain Damien

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
