Ahoy shipmates,

Welcome all.  They Youth Crew of Voyage 14/18 joined Young Endeavour at Abell Point Marina in Airlie Beach, with a small group of family and friends in attendance. After quick tours, the official welcome and introductions, our guests disembarked as we prepared to cast off. Before I go any further…the staff crew for this trip are:

Captain            Kenny

Sail Master            Guv

Navigator            Harry

Watch Officer            Ivanka

White Watch Leader        Adam

Red Watch Leader        James

Blue Watch Leader        Morgan

Chef                Marcus

Engineer            Mark

After clearing the Marina and recovering our sea boat, we made the two hour transit to Cid Harbour on the western side of Whitsunday Island. Enroute the Youth Crew conducted ice breakers and tours of the ship with their watch leaders, rotating through the galley for a delicious evening meal from Chef Marcus. Once at anchor we conducted briefs from Sail Master Guv, Engineer Mark, and myself covering some of the do’s and don’ts for the voyage, as well as hopefully providing some inspiration…stressing the importance of taking the opportunities presented to them  over the next 10 days. It was then into the Safety Aloft brief and first night climbs to the top gallant yard (top of the foremast). As I write the final watch (White Watch) is making their way down from aloft. Once on deck everyone will be hitting the hay for a good night’s sleep before a very busy day two. That’s it for now…until tomorrow

Fair winds,

Captain Kenny
