Another Great Day

Ahoy Shipmates, This morning was clear and sunny and Morning Brief found YOUNG ENDEAVOUR 10nm south east of Sandy Cape (northern point of Fraser Island) still under full plain sail and enjoying the moderate south easterly trade winds. After the normal morning activity of Happy Hour (Cleaning Stations) we conducted a Man Overboard Exercise (MOBEX), which besides providing valuable continuation training for the Staff Crew it also gives the YC an appreciation of the quick responses required by all crew to quickly hand in sail, manoeuvre the ship and recover a person from the water. Following the exercise the conditions were perfect for a swim, so it was all hands to bathe in the crystal clear water of the east coast of Fraser Island. After lunch all sails were again set and then it was straight into rotational tacks, this evolution gives the YC the opportunity to experience and gain an appreciation for each others position and gives them a better understanding of ship management in preparation for the rapidly approaching Command Day. As the rest of the afternoon was free and the weather perfect the YC took the opportunity to catch up on some domestic chores like doing their laundry (hand washed out of a bucket), climb the mast or just sit out on the bowsprit and enjoy life at sea. During the night watches tonight the YC will complete two exercises, one being the Bear Exercise (teamwork & initiative exercise) and the second being Apples & Onions (communication exercise). While they are completing these exercises the ship will continued to make ground towards our next anchorage which will be Lady Musgrave Island were we plan to anchor tomorrow morning. Yours AyeCaptain Gav
