Ahoy Shipmates,
At 0400 this morning Young Endeavour came safely to anchor in the sheltered confines of Trial Bay. Once at anchor the on watch Staff Crew commenced a vigilant anchor watch whilst the YC were stood down from their normal watches for a well needed rest. Even in the confines of Trial Bay YE continued to experience wind gusts of up to 40kts, so the YC still gained a full appreciation of the weather conditions that we had managed to take shelter from. Following the normal morning activities and lunch the YC were ferried ashore to enjoy their first steps on terra firma since joining the Ship and to tour the historic Trial Bay Goal. By 1630 a tired but happy YC were back onboard full of stories about their trip ashore. Dinner tonight consisted of teak deck BBQ (cooked by Jaz the Navigator and yours truly) which was followed by an entertaining evening of three way talks (this is an exercise in communication and public speaking). Finally to finish of the day's activities the Navigator gave a short presentation on the responsibilities of anchor watches before everyone turned in for a good nights sleep.

Highlights of the day have been anchoring in the picturesque Trial Bay, getting ashore and visiting the Trial Bay Gaol, the 4km beach walk to be picked up by the ships boat, the teak deck BBQ and finally three way talks.

The forecast for tomorrow is for the weather to improve, so if the forecaster has got it right then we should depart Trial Bay early tomorrow morning and continue our journey south.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
