Our voyages are challenging and exciting and most of all you learn more about yourself and working with others as a team. These are real world skills for life.

Note: If you have applied in the past and have been unsuccessful in obtaining a berth already you will need to log into the Youth Crew section using the email address from your original application. A password will be generated allowing you to access you account, update your details and make an application in the new ballot.

A few key points to remember:
- If you have already sailed aboard Young Endeavour you are not eligible to apply unless the voyage is specified as being for returnee crew.
- Only one online application is accepted per person, however this application can be updated at any time (see above). Duplicate applications will be deleted.
- A 20% deposit will be required once your berth is confirmed, which will be within two weeks of the ballot close date.
- If you are aged under 18, your parent or guardian must give permission for you to participate in the voyage.
- Please print out a copy of this page and retain for your records.
VOYAGE TERMS & CONDITIONS
Your participation on a voyage with STS Young Endeavour is subject to you agreeing to these terms and conditions. Please read the details carefully, and select 'I Agree' to indicate your acceptance. Please retain a copy for your records.
1. Eligibility
a. You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
b. You must be 16 to 23 years old on the day of departure of your selected voyages
c. You must be able to swim 50 metres and be in good health
d. Weigh less that 120kg
If selected your offer is provisional until you complete a health check by your own GP, which includes your doctor's approval for you to undertake the voyage. This may then be subject to further approval by the Navy Fleet Medical Officer.
PLEASE NOTE there are certain medical conditions, including some controlled by medication, which preclude participation in the voyage. These are:
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Epilepsy
- Depression and Mental Illness treated by medication
- Severe Asthma
- Communicable Diseases such as Chicken Pox, Glandular
- Fever, German Measles
- Broken or sprained limbs
- Pregnancy (a contra indication to sailing in Young Endeavour due to increased possibility of seasickness and other complications such as ectopic pregnancy)
- If participation is considered inappropriate by the applicant's doctor
If selected, your offer is provisional until you sign and return the hard copy Terms & Conditions and Release and Indemnity documents that will be sent to you.

2. Selection
a. On each voyage there are berths for 12 male and 12 female youth crew.
b. Only one application per person is accepted. You must accept the terms and conditions online before your application can proceed.
c. You can apply for as many voyages as you like but think carefully about the voyages you nominate, taking into consideration events which may effect your availability such as exam time, leave form work, family events, travel time and costs etc. Only nominate the voyages you are prepared to sail on.
d. Selection for voyages is by electronic ballot conducted by the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme.
e. The Scheme will advise you by mail of the result of your application within 14 days of the relevant closing date/s.
f. If you change your address after applying, please let us know so we know how to contact you..
g. If you are not successful in the ballot, your application will be kept on a waiting list in case of cancellations throughout the year. You may be selected to join a voyage at short notice.
h. Berths are allocated to States and Territories on a pro-rata population basis
j. If you previously sailed on a Young Endeavour voyage you are not eligible to apply for voyages unless it is for a defined Returnee Youth Crew voyage.
3. Financial Assistance
a. The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme offers financial assistance for a limited number of applicants who are unable to afford the voyage fee.
b. You can apply for financial assistance for any voyages provided you meet the following criteria PRIOR to your voyage depature.
c. If you have not submitted a Financial Assistance application, you cannot request financial assistance after the ballot has been held.
To be eligible for Financial Assistance, you must:
- Be receiving a benefit from Centrelink such as Newstart Allowance or Austudy. If you are under 18 and living at home with a parent who receives a Centrelink benefit such as a Supporting Parent Benefit or Disability Support you may also be eligible.
- Attach a short letter to your application form explaining your reasons for requesting financial assistance.
- You must attach supporting information from Centrelink as proof of your financial circumstances, such as an Income Statement available from Centrelink.
If you are successful in the ballot, you need to pay the amount your voyage fee of $500 and your travel costs for an 11-day voyage.
4. Travel
You need to organise and pay for your own travel to and from the voyage.
If you are a resident of WA or NT we offer a reduced voyage fee of $1,450 (standard voyage fee is $1,650 less a $200 travel assistance subsidy). If you need more information please contact the Voyage Coordinator on 1800 020 444.
5. Release, Indemnity, Disclaimer
a. You release the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme against all claims, demands, suits, actions, proceedings, costs, expenses, loss or damage whatsoever which you may have or may suffer now or hereafter may have or suffer or would but for this Deed have suffered in respect of loss or damage sustained or suffered directly or indirectly by you as a result of or arising out of or in connection with any claim;
b. You indemnify the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme against all claims, demands, suits, actions, proceedings, costs,expenses, loss or damage whatsoever which the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme may have suffered now or hereafter may suffer or would but for this Deed have suffered in respect of loss or damage sustained or suffered directly or indirectly by the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme as a result of or arising out of any action, omission or negligence on your part;
c. You fully understand the legal meaning and implications of the above release, indemnity and this disclaimer and acknowledge that Young Endeavour Youth Scheme, its personnel, the Commonwealth and/or any person employed or contracted by any of them do not accept any liability whatsoever for any loss, injury or damage which you may sustain personally or in respect of personal property at anytime prior, during or after this berth on STS Young Endeavour, which you have chosen to accept on the Terms contained in this ACCEPTANCE FORM.
Your acceptance of the Terms & Conditions comprises your agreement with the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme.
