 Youth Crew Voyages

If you are aged 16-23 years and looking for an awesome adventure, join us for the voyage of a lifetime in sail training ship Young Endeavour. No previous sailing experience is required.

The Royal Australian Navy crew will teach you how to sail a square-rigged vessel, including how to navigate, keep watch, take the helm, cook in the galley, tie knots, work aloft and even take command. Not only that, you will develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills, work with disadvantaged youth and meet people from around the country.

To sail in Young Endeavour apply for our ballot (which is like a lottery). The ballot opens twice each year, in January and August. For information about voyage fees, click here. Information on eligibility is available on the next page.

“The voyage was an unbelievable chance to gain a new perspective on life. We each came to know our own strengths and did things we never thought we could do”
Courtney Finlay, V11/09 Cairns to Darwin

“Each and every youth crew member pushed their limits during the voyage. In the spirit of adventure, they will hopefully pursue new challenges, accept greater responsibilities and live a life that is beyond the ordinary”
Holy Cochrane, V15/09 Exmouth to Fremantle

“Snorkelling, sunrises and sunsets at sea, beach and deck barbeques, climbing to the highest point on the mast, jumping overboard into the beautiful waters of the Barrier Reef, and the challenge of constructing a rope hammock on deck to support all the crew were just a few of my never-to-be-forgotten experiences”
Brendan Josey, V08/09 Mackay to Airlie Beach
